One Dollar Buys a Lot at the Flea Market

I had a big day at the Raleigh flea market Saturday. Everywhere I looked, cool things jumped out at me: things that inspire me–and cost a dollar or less!

  • Current or very recent magazines. The one in the picture (Jan-Feb 2013) retails for $25.
  • Farmer’s almanacs from 1945-1973. The 60s and 70s don’t seem that long ago to me, but the pages are seriously yellow.
  • Fabric. Large pieces of these fabulous African prints.
  • Plastic bangle bracelets. Ripe for recycling.

I’ve got lots of ideas, but I started with these bangles, covering them with paper scraps and adding words that mean something to me.
