Making altered books with a great teacher (Carol Owen)…at a great location in town (Ornamentea)…with a great group of women (including artist Martha Petty, who may be the nicest person I’ve ever met).

Add Cynthia’s chocolate chip cookies, and you’ve got my idea of a perfect weekend.

And I’m thrilled with the results. A big, fat book that doesn’t even remotely close, filled with all kinds of interactive pages.

Carol taught us how to cover pages using napkins, paint and glazes; make pockets, envelopes, and niches; insert a spinner, zipper, and honeycomb; and create all kinds of cool pop-ups.

Now, if only I could make it to her week-long class at the John C. Campbell Folk Art School…
